Our Programs

Expeditionary Learning

Pre-K

At The Civic School, we believe that every child deserves an education that is engaging and empowering. That's why we offer a range of programs that are designed to inspire a love of learning and help students develop the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. Our curriculum is heavily play based and focused on building developmentally appropriate skills that lead to being a successful Kindergarten student.

From Pre-K to 8th grade, we provide a supportive and nurturing environment where students can explore their interests and develop their talents.

Elementary School

Our elementary school program is designed to help students build a strong foundation in reading, writing, and math, while also exploring their interests through a range of elective courses. Our experienced teachers use a variety of teaching methods to help students develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. Our expeditionary learning approach encourages students to engage with real-world problems and develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This includes frequent community imbedded learning experiences that promote agency, interest, sophisticated research, confidence and public speaking skills, and professional end of semester presentations of learning.

Middle School

Our middle school program is designed to help students develop the skills they need to succeed in high school and beyond. We offer a range of courses in math, science, social studies, and language arts, as well as elective courses in areas such as art, music, and technology. Our experienced teachers use a variety of teaching methods to help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which includes an integrated technology program including coding and robotics. They will not only build on the deep research and public speaking skills built throughout elementary, and capitalize on Socratic experiences imbedded in the classroom and opportunities to begin to plan for High School, College and beyond.

Extracurricular Activities

In addition to our academic programs, we offer a range of extracurricular activities that allow students to explore their interests and discover their talents. From sports teams to chess club, there's something for everyone at The Civic School. Our experienced coaches and advisors provide guidance and support to help students succeed both on and off the field.

Physical Education

At The Civic School, we believe that physical education is an important part of a well-rounded education. That's why we offer a comprehensive physical education program that includes a range of activities designed to help students develop their motor skills, coordination, and fitness. Our experienced coaches and trainers work with students to help them set and achieve their fitness goals.

Arts and Music

We believe that the arts are an essential part of a well-rounded education. That's why we offer a range of art and music classes that allow students to explore their creativity and discover their interests and talents. From drawing and painting to choir and orchestra, there's something for everyone at The Civic School.

Social Justice

At The Civic School, we believe that education is a powerful tool for social change. That's why we incorporate social justice themes into our curriculum and encourage students to engage with the world around them. Our goal is to inspire students to become active and engaged citizens who are committed to making a difference in their communities.

Experiential Learning

We believe that hands-on, minds-on experiential learning is the most effective way for students to learn. That's why we incorporate a range of experiential learning opportunities into our curriculum, from field trips and service projects to outdoor education and project-based learning. These experiences help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around them.

Outdoor Education

At The Civic School, we believe that spending time in nature is essential for our physical and emotional well-being. That's why we incorporate outdoor education into our curriculum, with opportunities for students to explore the natural world through camping trips, nature walks, and other outdoor activities. These experiences help students develop a sense of appreciation and respect for nature, as well as important life skills such as teamwork and leadership.
