Our Approach

Pre-K

At TMS, we have a goal of intentionally partnering with onsite PreK programs because we believe that every child deserves an education that is engaging and empowering. Our goal is to offer a range of programs that are designed to inspire a love of learning and help students develop the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century. Another goal is that the curriculum is heavily play based and focused on building developmentally appropriate skills that lead to being a successful Kindergarten student.

Our goal is that from Pre-K to 8th grade, we provide a supportive and nurturing environment where students can explore their interests and develop their talents.

Elementary School

Our elementary school program is designed to help students build a strong foundation in STEM (science and math) and Humanities (ELA and Social Studies) while also exploring their interests through a range of enrichment experiences. Our experienced teachers use a variety of teaching methods to help students develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond. Our museum school approach encourages students to engage with real-world problems and develop problem-solving skills imbedded with opportunities for leadership development. This includes frequent community imbedded learning experiences that promote interest, sophisticated research, confidence and public speaking skills, and professional end of unit exhibitions.

Middle School

Our middle school program is designed to help students develop the skills they need to succeed in high school and beyond. We offer a range of courses in math, science, social studies, and language arts, as well as elective courses in areas such as art, music, and technology. Our experienced teachers use a variety of teaching methods to help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which includes an integrated technology program including coding and robotics. They will not only build on the deep research and public speaking skills built throughout elementary, and capitalize on Socratic experiences imbedded in the classroom and opportunities to begin to plan for High School, College and beyond.

Museum School Learning

We believe that hands-on, minds-on immersive learning is the most effective way for students to learn. That's why we incorporate a range of experiential learning opportunities into our curriculum, from learning expeditions and service projects to outdoor education and project-based learning. These experiences help students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around them. Students will frequently attend learning expeditions within the community as an enhancement of the 100% TEKS and ELPS aligned curriculums they are engaged in. Teachers will do intentional collaborative work with partners to ensure alignment through all programming.

Leadership Development

Imbedded within immersive learning is inherent opportunities for students to practice embodying leadership skills. Steven Covey has stated one of the most important leadership skills is self-awareness. We will leverage reflection for students to be able to know their interests and strengths as a leader and how to leverage them as they develop who they want to be going into high school, college, military and beyond.

Extended Day

In addition to our academic programs, we offer a range of extracurricular activities that allow students to explore their interests and discover their talents. From sports teams to chess club, there's something for everyone at TMS. Many of our offerings are based on student and parent surveys, with the goal of reflecting their wants and needs in our unique programming.
